StreetPass Zombies (3DS): COMPLETED!

There’s not a great deal to say about this, aside from that a couple of the final levels were pretty tricky, and even though the end boss appeared both indestructible and virtually impossible to dodge I still managed to off him on my first attempt. The Wii remote is the best weapon by far, incidentally, except on the final boss where I found the pillow invaluable with it’s rapid fire. Fun, and I’ll probably play it a bit longer, but …

I made a game (with no zombies in it)

It’s not a very good game. In fact, the only “game” element is trying to collect all the items more quickly than before. It’s also a mutation of the example Phaser HTML5 game, although much is rewritten or modified. It’s also not very good. I think I said that. But! It shows how easy it is to make a HTML5 game with Phaser. Making a good game though? Bit trickier, and not really something Phaser can help with. Anyway, you …

Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers (Wii): COMPLETED!

This was another game I bought today, and (it would appear) played a lot. So much so, that I completed it. It wasn’t hard, and it was somewhat repetitive. And the waggle-to-fight controls ruined my wrists. And there weren’t many types of zombie. And it felt a lot like the fighting bits of No More Heroes, and only those bits. But! It was fun. Somehow. I’m sure it wasn’t entirely down to the main character’s skimpy bikini, feather boa and …

Removing The Simpsons

Post Length Warning! I’ve become a little hooked on OpenAI’s ChatGTP. It’s a text-based response AI, which converses with you but can also be asked to create things. Like magic, it’s able to conjure up stuff you ask for. So I’ve asked it a lot: “Write an episode of Cheers where Norm is a zombie”, “Explain particle physics to a four year old”, “Tell a story like Three Billy Goats Gruff only the goats are successful women and the troll …

Arcade Paradise (Switch): COMPLETED!

In which you run a launderette, put washing on, tumble dry, collect it up, and pick up rubbish. Only! In the back room of the launderette is a mostly forgotten and unloved video game arcade with a handful of machines! So when you make laundry money, you buy more arcade machines, and then they make you money, and then they start to make so much money that, actually, the laundrette starts to just get in the way so you oust …

Ghostwire Toyko (PS5): COMPLETED!

There’s a song by Puffy AmiYumi called Planet Tokyo. I mention this not because it has anything to do with the game, but every time I see the title “Ghostwire Tokyo” I read it in the same tune. Yes, I know you probably have no idea what I’m on about. I went into the game itself pretty blind. I’d glanced over a couple of reviews and read some game-content-free comments on how good it was, but I think I was …

Dark Arms (Switch): COMPLETED!

This game is one I have for the NeoGeo Pocket and I remember I enjoyed it at the time, but don’t remember much about it. Aside from you shoot baddies to get souls which upgrade your guns. Seems, now I’ve completed it on the NeoGeo Pocket Colour Selection on the Switch, that really that’s all there is to it. OK, so not quite. There’s a story which is badly translated and makes little sense, and you don’t just have a …

Baobab’s Mausoleum Episode 1: Ovnifagos Don’t Eat Flamingos (Switch): COMPLETED!

A while back, I played the demo of this. Although short, it looked like it the full game was going to be a viewed from above puzzle adventure game with Twin Peaks overtones. And, when it came to playing the full game, for a while that was the case. Your basic zombie-lookin aubergine FBI agent’s car breaks down outside a mysterious town that only appears once every 25 years, and he needs to find a phone and get on his way. …
